Dr. Amitabh Ray is Professor and In-charge of the Department of Radiation Oncology at the New Town Campus of Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute (CNCI), Kolkata, India — one of the country's premier comprehensive cancer centres. A Gold Medallist in MBBS and First-Rank holder in his MD (Radiation Oncology) from West Bengal University of Health Sciences, he also holds a DNB in Radiation Oncology and completed a Post-MD Clinical Research Fellowship in Neuro-Oncology at ACTREC, Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai. His clinical expertise spans genitourinary, thoracic, and neuro-oncology. Dr. Ray is a recipient of the prestigious G.C. Pant Young Doctor Award and the AROI National Fellowship, both conferred at the AROI National Conference 2011. He serves as an Abstract Reviewer for ASTRO 2026 and is a peer reviewer for the Journal of Cancer Research and Therapeutics. He has over 30 peer-reviewed publications and a book chapter to his name, with research interests spanning image-guided and adaptive radiotherapy, stereotactic techniques, and resource-stratified oncology in LMIC settings. In 2026, Dr. Ray was selected to speak at the ASCO Voices program at the ASCO Annual Meeting in Chicago — a platform dedicated to personal narratives that illuminate the human dimensions of cancer care.
