Dr. Anbarasi Kumaresan is a Senior Consultant in the Department of Radiation Oncology at MGM Cancer Institute, Chennai, a position she has held since 2022. She holds a Certificate Course in Essentials of Palliative Care from the Indian Association of Palliative Care. Her clinical practice focuses on breast and gynecological malignancies, with expertise in image-guided brachytherapy, stereotactic radiotherapy and radiosurgery, and advanced techniques including IMRT, IGRT, VMAT, and motion management strategies such as DIBH and CPAP.


She completed her MD and Diploma in Medical Radiotherapy at the Cancer Institute (WIA), Adyar, Chennai, and her MBBS at Thoothukudi Government Medical College. She is the recipient of the Padma Jyothi Award for Cancer Care from the Sreeman Pandikumar Memorial Trust (2024), along with multiple AROI academic awards from her training years.


Prior to her current role, she worked as a Consultant Radiation Oncologist at Universal Hospital, Salem, and at the Cancer Institute (WIA), Adyar, and held visiting consultant appointments at several major hospitals across Chennai.


Her research interests center on precision radiotherapy, breast cancer radiotherapy, and organ-preserving approaches in head and neck cancers. She has presented her work at AROICON, FARO, ISNOCON, and ASTRO, with recent research on CPAP-based cardiopulmonary dose reduction in left-sided breast radiotherapy and advanced imaging in glioma treatment. She has authored several peer-reviewed publications on chemoradiation in head and neck cancer and IMRT techniques in nasopharyngeal cancer.
