Andy Qin, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology and Molecular Radiation Sciences at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and serves as CNS SRS/SBRT Lead Physicist. He is an American Board of Radiology-certified therapeutic medical physicist with clinical expertise in stereotactic radiosurgery, stereotactic body radiotherapy, CyberKnife treatment planning and delivery, image guidance, patient-specific QA, and treatment workflow optimization. Dr. Qin received his PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Southern Medical University and completed therapeutic medical physics residency training at William Beaumont Hospital. Before joining Johns Hopkins, he worked at William Beaumont/Corewell Health in research and clinical physics roles.
Dr. Qin’s career focuses on artificial intelligence, image-guided and adaptive radiotherapy, synthetic CT, treatment dose evaluation, and automation of clinical radiotherapy workflows. His current work includes development of an AI-powered brain metastasis platform for prediction, management, and treatment response evaluation after SRS/SBRT. His publications include work on CBCT-based treatment dose monitoring, MR-based synthetic CT, deformable image registration, quantitative PET/CT dose-response assessment, proton therapy planning, and CNS/spine stereotactic radiotherapy. His research aims to make advanced radiotherapy safer, more efficient, and more clinically actionable.
