Dr. Beth Neilsen is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor in Radiation Oncology at Stanford University. She previously received her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Computer Science from the Jeffrey S. Raikes School of Computer Science and Management within the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. She then completed her M.D./Ph.D. training at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Her Ph.D. research utilized bioinformatic approaches to evaluate and identify novel therapeutic targets in Ras-mutated cancers from a genome-wide siRNA screen under the guidance of Dr. Robert Lewis. This work was supported by a T32 Cancer Center Training Grant as well as an individually awarded NIH/NCI F30 award. After completing her combined M.D./Ph.D. degree, she completed a year of preliminary medical training in Internal Medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center before starting her Radiation Oncology residency at the University of California, Los Angeles where she completed the ABR Holman Research Pathway. While at UCLA, she joined the Boutros laboratory and conducted multi-omic analyses of prostate cancer where her work was supported by an NLM-funded Data Science for Precision Health T15 training grant and an ASCO Young Investigator Award. Her research interests include cancer heterogeneity and cancer evolution particularly in response to radiation treatment.
