Carlos Uribe, PhD, MCCPM, is a board-certified nuclear medicine physicist at BC Cancer in Vancouver, Canada, where he leads the Provincial Clinical Molecular Imaging and Therapy Physics Program. He is also clinical faculty in the Department of Radiology at the University of British Columbia (UBC) and an associate scientist at the BC Cancer Research Institute. His work focuses on advancing quantitative molecular imaging, dosimetry, and theranostics to improve cancer diagnosis and treatment.
Dr. Uribe co-leads the Quantitative and Radiomolecular Imaging and Therapy (Qurit) Laboratory at BC Cancer and has extensive expertise in dosimetry for radiopharmaceutical therapies. He has contributed to the development and implementation of multicentre clinical trials in prostate cancer and neuroendocrine tumors and collaborates with physicians, biologists, radiochemists, and other scientists to evaluate novel diagnostic and therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals.
Nationally and internationally, Dr. Uribe contributes to efforts to standardize and advance quantitative imaging and dosimetry. He serves on the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI) Dosimetry Task Force and MIRD Committee and chairs the SNMMI Clinical Trials Network Scanner Validation Committee. He was recognized as an SNMMI “One to Watch” in 2022 and received the Hal O’Brien Rising Star Award in 2025.
Dr. Uribe is also committed to education and mentorship, teaching nuclear medicine residents and supervising undergraduate and graduate trainees at UBC. His broader goal is to translate advances in imaging physics, dosimetry, and theranostics into practical tools that improve patient care and support the next generation of molecular imaging and therapy professionals.
