Dr. Cheng-Long Huang is a physician in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center, Guangzhou, China. He is a core member of the NPC research group led by Academician Jun Ma and Professor Ling-Long Tang. His research focuses on precision radiotherapy and de-escalation strategies for nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). He contributed as a co-first author to the pivotal phase III trial published in CA: A Cancer Journal for Clinicians (2025), which demonstrated that reduced-volume radiotherapy after induction chemotherapy maintains efficacy with significantly less toxicity. He also served as a co-first author on the Lancet Oncology phase III trial (2022) that established upper-neck irradiation as a standard of care for N0-1 NPC. He has published extensively on NPC radiotherapy outcomes, patterns of failure, and treatment optimization in high-impact journals including CA, Lancet Oncology, and International Journal of Radiation Oncology, Biology, and Physics. His work has contributed to the development of the 2025 international NPC target volume delineation guidelines.
