Dr. Ramsey is Chief Medical Physicist for Covenant Health in Knoxville, Tennessee, where he directs one of the region’s largest radiation oncology programs, overseeing eight departments. He is board certified in therapeutic medical physics by both the American Board of Radiology and the American Board of Medical Physics. Dr. Ramsey earned his Ph.D. in Medical Physics from the University of Tennessee, where he now serves as Adjunct Professor in the CAMPEP-accredited graduate program. He established and directs a CAMPEP-accredited medical physics residency program and has mentored numerous M.S., Ph.D., and resident trainees. His research interests include advanced treatment technologies such as IMRT, IGRT, respiratory-gated therapy, tomotherapy, adaptive therapy, proton therapy, and applications of machine learning in radiation oncology. He has authored more than 200 peer-reviewed articles and abstracts. Dr. Ramsey has served as Tennessee State Captain for ASTRO’s Government Relations Committee and is a current member of the ASTRO AI Resource Panel. He has also contributed nationally through service on AAPM Task Groups 76 (management of respiratory motion), 119 (IMRT quality assurance), and 148 (QA for helical tomotherapy).
