Christopher A. Barker is an Associate Member and Associate Attending Radiation Oncologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC), where he serves as Vice Chair for Clinical Research in the Department of Radiation Oncology, Director of Skin Cancer and Melanoma Radiation Oncology, Co-Director of the Multidisciplinary Skin Cancer Management Program and on faculty at the New York Proton Center. His clinical practice focuses on cutaneous malignancies, melanoma, Merkel cell carcinoma, ocular tumors. Dr. Barker earned his B.S. in Neuroscience and Italian from Emory University and his M.D. with Honors in Research from the University of Florida College of Medicine. He was a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Research Scholar in the Radiation Oncology Branch of the National Cancer Institute and completed his internship and residency Radiation Oncology at MSKCC. Dr. Barker’s research program is dedicated to improving outcomes for patients with skin cancers and melanoma through novel combinations of radiotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapies, and advanced imaging technologies. He has served as principal investigator for numerous investigator-initiated clinical trials and has secured federal, philanthropic, and industry support for translational and clinical research. Nationally and internationally, Dr. Barker is recognized as a leader in radiation oncology for skin cancer and melanoma. He serves on the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) Melanoma Panel, co-chairs the NRG Oncology Skin Cancer Working Group, and has contributed to multiple clinical practice guidelines and advisory committees. He is an active academic with a sustained commitment to advancing multidisciplinary cancer care, research, and training.
