Cira Mollings Puentes is a PGY-3 radiation oncology resident at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Her path to oncology began with a fascination with biochemistry at Bates College and continued through medical school at UT Southwestern, where she earned Distinction in Quality Improvement and the Dean's Research Scholar award. She now works at the intersection of AI, clinical education, and cancer care. Her projects include developing AI-driven simulation and evaluation tools for patient communication and goals-of-care conversations, longitudinal care coordination for lung cancer survivorship, and Augmented Reality-assisted brachytherapy. Each of these efforts reflects her broader interest in how technology can close gaps in care delivery, provider training, and patient outcomes. Guided by her belief that high-quality processes should exist in all aspects of patient care, her work reflects a commitment to ensuring that emerging technologies translate into meaningful, measurable improvements for patients and providers alike.
