Claudia Melendez, BA
Claudia Melendez is an MD candidate at the Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine at the University of Utah, class of 2027. She majored in Neuroscience and International Relations with a concentration in Global Health at the University of Pennsylvania, where she graduated in 2023. During her time at Penn, she worked with a team at the Abramson Cancer Center to address the rising disparities in colorectal cancer screening. Their work centered on reducing barriers to access by bringing screenings directly to communities. Since beginning medical school, she has continued to focus on reducing barriers in oncologic care. She is currently working with Dr. Gita Suneja on a project examining how documentation practices influence the measurement and mitigation of social determinants of health within the Radiation Oncology department.
