Devanshu Panchal, PhD
Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University
Philadelphia, PA
Devanshu Panchal, PhD, is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Radiation Oncology at Sidney Kimmel College at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, where his research focuses on developing quantitative imaging biomarkers for the early prediction of treatment-related toxicities in patients with cancer. His long-term career focus is precision oncology and survivorship, with an emphasis on integrating functional medical imaging, clinical data, statistical modeling, and machine learning to identify high-risk patients and enable earlier intervention. Panchal earned his PhD in Experimental High-Energy Physics from The University of Texas at Austin and his BS in Physics from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign. Before joining Thomas Jefferson University, he served as a Research Scientist at UT Austin and previously conducted undergraduate research at UIUC. His prior work with the ATLAS Collaboration at the Large Hadron Collider developed expertise in large-scale data analysis, detector systems, statistical inference, and machine learning. His current research investigates FDG-PET–derived cardiac biomarkers and radiomics features for predicting cardiotoxicity in lung cancer patients. His publications include work on ATLAS calorimeter electronics, radiation-hard data acquisition systems, and particle-physics searches, along with a 2026 ASTRO presentation on PET radiomics and cardiac risk prediction.
