Duvern Ramiah, MD, MBA
Duvern Ramiah is a radiation oncologist who has blended experience in medicine and management into delivering radiation oncology services with the aim of making it available to everyone requiring them. He brings this expertise to his roles as the Chair of Radiation Oncology at the University of the Witwatersrand and Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital, and is also involved in private practice at Wits University Donald Gordon Medical Centre.
Duvern has been involved in many scientific publications, most recently in Breast Radiation Therapy. He has an interest in prostate cancer and introduced the prostate cancer brachytherapy program at both CMJAH and Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic hospital and has received several awards from the Centre for Public Sector Innovation. He’s an examiner for the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa Radiation Oncology examinations and served as overall convener and moderator for the exams, an executive committee member of the South African Society of Clinical and Radiation Oncologists (SASCRO) and on the editorial board of the South African Journal of Oncology (SAJO). In addition, he is a board member of the Breast Interest Group of South Africa (BIGOSA), the Medical and Scientific Committee of the Prostate Cancer Foundation of South Africa, and a director of the South African Oncology Consortium (SAOC).
Duvern takes his devotion to service and interest in harnessing the maximal value from novel technologies, especially in oncology, to inspire a redesign of the health ecosystem to fit a world moving to precision medicine.
