Dr. Emily Hirata is the Chief of Clinical Physics and Clinical Professor at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). She oversees the clinical physics operation across the radiation oncology practice. Her research interests include quality and safety improvements, development of clinical decision support tools and workflow optimization, and is actively involved in clinical implementation of innovative treatment techniques. She is as an ACR Physicist surveyor and is on the Radiation Oncology Practice Accreditation (ROPA) Committee. Dr. Hirata is a Fellow of AAPM and serves on numerous AAPM committees including Vice Chair of the MPLA Community Subcommittee, TG263U1 and the IHE-RO Planning Committee. She is an advocate for developing leadership skills, developed the framework for the MPLA Leadership Foundations Cohorts, and is a champion for medical physics education, mentorship, and improving efficiency, safety, and effectiveness of clinical physics and radiation oncology.
