Dr. Esengül Koçak Uzel is Professor of Radiation Oncology and currently serves as the Educational and Administrative Director of the Department of Radiation Oncology at Bakirköy Dr. Sadi Konuk Training and Research Hospital in Istanbul, Türkiye. She received her medical degree from Istanbul University Cerrahpasa Faculty of Medicine and completed her residency training in Radiation Oncology at the same institution. She further expanded her academic and clinical expertise through research fellowships at Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV), Switzerland, and The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, USA.
Dr. Koçak Uzel was promoted to Associate Professor in 2017 and Professor in 2023. Her clinical and research interests include gastrointestinal, genitourinary, breast, and head and neck cancers, with particular focus on advanced radiotherapy techniques, image-guided radiotherapy, intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), stereotactic radiotherapy, and proton therapy.
She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in leading international oncology journals and has presented her work at major scientific meetings, including ASTRO, ASCO, ESTRO, and PTCOG. She is an active member of ASTRO, ESTRO, and the Turkish Society for Radiation Oncology, and serves on the Board of the Turkish Cancer Foundation
