Farshad Safavi, PhD, is a Research Fellow in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He holds a PhD in Computer Science, and his research focuses on artificial intelligence, medical-image synthesis, and prompt-gamma imaging for proton-therapy range verification. Under the mentorship of Dr. Lei Ren, he is developing and clinically evaluating a novel snout-mounted quad-camera Compton imaging system for real-time, in vivo proton-range verification.
