Hieu Nguyen is a third-year student at UCSD School of Medicine. He completed his undergraduate education with a degree in Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology at UCLA with a minor in Biomedical Research, where he received departmental honors and represented UCLA as a Beckman Scholar for his research investigating biological pathways that directed cells away from senescence. After graduation, he worked in Investigative Toxicology for a year at Genentech prior to starting his medical education. He is very interested in pursuing a career in radiation oncology, and is currently doing research with Dr. Hattangadi-Gluth to better understand how subfield imaging can be used to limit toxicity in CNS patients receiving fractionated partial brain radiation therapy.
