Higinia Cárdenes, M.D, Ph.D. is a Professor of Radiation Oncology at Weill Cornell Medicine. Dr. Cárdenes joined WCM in April 2017. She was Clinical Professor of Radiation Oncology and Adjunct Clinical Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of Gynecologic Oncology at Indiana University School of Medicine for 18 years.


Dr. Cárdenes has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and published several book chapters on Gynecologic and Gastrointestinal cancers. She has presented nationally and internationally on the treatment of Gynecologic and Gastrointestinal cancers and has served on many National and International Scientific Oncologic Societies, primarily in Central, South America, East Africa and Spain. Her areas of clinical and research interest are Gynecologic and Gastrointestinal Oncology.


Training:


Dr. Cárdenes completed her medical training at the School of Medicine and Surgery Facultad de Medicina, La Laguna, Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain. She completed her first Radiation Oncology Residency training and her Ph.D. at Universidad Autónoma, Madrid, Spain. Additionally, Dr. Cárdenes completed a second Radiation Oncology residency training and a Fellowship at the Radiation Oncology Center, Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology, Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis, Missouri.
