Hiral Ahir

Hiral Ahir is a fourth-year medical student at A.T. Still University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona with an interest in radiation oncology. He has gained clinical experience in radiation oncology through rotations in both private practice and academic settings, where he has participated in patient consultations, treatment planning, contouring, and multidisciplinary care.
Hiral currently conducts research with the Department of Radiation Oncology at Mayo Clinic Arizona. His work has focused on accelerated partial breast irradiation and outcomes in patients with and without breast implants. This research will be presented at the 2026 ASTRO Annual Meeting. He has also been involved in research examining the use of artificial intelligence-enhanced optical coherence tomography in the early detection and treatment of gastrointestinal cancers.
Outside of radiation oncology, Hiral has experience working with underserved communities through Federally Qualified Health Centers in Arizona, where he has developed an interest in preventive care and social determinants of health. He plans to pursue residency training in radiation oncology and hopes to continue incorporating research into his future practice.
