Ida Deichaite, PhD

University of California, San Diego
La Jolla, CA

Dr. Ida Deichaite is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiation Medicine and Applied Sciences at the UC San Diego School of Medicine and serves as Director of Translational Partnerships & Industry Engagement. She is affiliated with the Center for Precision Radiation Medicine, the Center for Engineering in Cancer within the Institute of Engineering in Medicine, the Altman Clinical & Translational Research Institute, and the Moores Cancer Center.

Dr. Deichaite’s research applies cancer genomics and radiogenomics to advance personalized radiation therapy and improve patient outcomes. Her work focuses on head and neck and prostate cancers, with an emphasis on identifying germline and tumor-associated biomarkers that predict radiation response and treatment-related toxicity. She also leads pan-cancer efforts to identify actionable susceptibility targets and therapeutic mechanisms across aggressive malignancies.

Trained in virology and molecular biology, Dr. Deichaite integrates real-world clinical and genomic data with laboratory validation using a bed-to-bench translational model. Her research program aims to develop clinically meaningful biomarkers and therapeutic strategies that accelerate precision oncology.

Dr. Deichaite brings more than two decades of experience in translational oncology and in building partnerships among academia, biotechnology, and the pharmaceutical industry. She founded and organizes the Annual Industry/Academia Precision Oncology & RadMed Symposium, which will celebrate its 23rd year in 2027.

She earned her B.Sc. from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, her M.Sc. from the Weizmann Institute of Science, and her Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from Princeton University, followed by postdoctoral training at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center
