Indrin Chetty, PhD, MS, FASTRO

Cedars-Sinai Medical Center
Los Angeles, CA

Indrin J. Chetty joined the Department of Radiation Oncology at Cedars-Sinai Health System as Vice Chair of Research and Director of the Medical Physics Division in 2023. He previously worked at Henry Ford Health (HFH) as Professor and Director of Medical Physics, 2007-‘23. Indrin received both his MS and PhD in Medical Physics from UCLA. After graduating he joined the University of Michigan in 2000, and in 2005 was awarded a NIH/NCI R01 grant to investigate correlations of dose with outcome for patients with lung cancers. In 2007, he accepted the role of Vice Chair, and Director of Medical Physics at HFH where he oversaw the clinical and research operations for a large group of medical physicists. He collaborated with team members on clinical translational research focused on image-guided radiotherapy, MRI-guided radiotherapy, and image-guided adaptive radiotherapy (IGART), resulting in several NIH and Industrial partnership grants. Over the past five years, Indrin’s research has centered on quantitative imaging, including applications of radiomics and other “big data” metrics for development of predictive analytical models to optimize therapeutic regimens for the individual cancer patient. He is also actively engaged in the use of machine learning algorithms to automate processes for cancer treatments to improve efficiency and safety. Indrin has published over two hundred peer-reviewed articles and was awarded the Inaugural Jae-Ho Kim outstanding cancer research award at HFH in 2018. He has been awarded Fellow of American Society for Radiation Oncology (FASTRO) and the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (FAAPM).
