Joel Pogue, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and is board certified by the American Board of Radiology in Therapeutic Medical Physics. He completed his PhD in Biomedical Physics and MS in Medical Physics at East Carolina University, followed by a CAMPEP-accredited therapeutic medical physics residency at UAB. Dr. Pogue’s clinical and research interests center on online adaptive radiotherapy and stereotactic radiotherapy, with an emphasis on treatment planning, image guidance, workflow optimization, and clinical implementation of advanced techniques including stereotactic radiosurgery, stereotactic body radiotherapy, and cone beam CT-guided online adaptive radiotherapy. His work has included applications in breast, lung, and brain radiotherapy, automated treatment planning, and data-driven approaches to improving treatment precision and efficiency.
