Dr. St-Aubin received his PhD in medical physics from the University of Alberta, where he focused on developing an MRI-guided adaptive radiotherapy system. His dissertation work on hybrid MRI-linac technology earned the Governor General’s Gold Medal for the top PhD thesis. He completed his medical physics residency at the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton, Alberta, and is a Fellow of the Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine. He is currently a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Iowa, where he serves as the Medical Physics Education Director and the Physics Director for the stereotactic radiosurgery service. His research centers on improving the quality and efficiency of MRI-guided adaptive radiotherapy. He has developed a grid-based Boltzmann solver for deterministic dose calculations in magnetic fields and, more recently, a reinforcement-learning framework for automated treatment planning with a human-in-the-loop AI design.
