Joseph A. Schmidlen, MD, is a PGY-1 resident physician at West Virginia University School of Medicine and an incoming resident in Radiation Oncology at WVU. His clinical and research interests include thoracic malignancies and head and neck cancers, with a particular focus on improving healthcare access and outcomes for underserved populations in Appalachia. He is also the Co-Founder and Vice Present of Cardinal Care Packages, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing care packages to patients undergoing cancer treatment across West Virginia.
