Junyu Li, MD, is a radiation oncologist at Jiangxi Cancer Hospital and an Associate Professor at Nanchang Medical College in Nanchang, China. His clinical and academic work focuses on thoracic radiation oncology, radiation-induced lung injury, treatment-related toxicity assessment, and artificial intelligence applications in radiation oncology. He is currently conducting radiation oncology research training at Mayo Clinic Arizona, where his work includes large language model–based approaches for automated identification and CTCAE grading of radiation-induced pneumonitis.

Dr. Li received his medical degree in Clinical Medicine in 2016 and has since worked in oncology and radiation oncology, with a focus on improving the evaluation and management of thoracic cancer patients receiving radiotherapy. His research interests include radiation-induced pneumonitis, radiotherapy resistance, toxicity prediction, clinical documentation, and the use of artificial intelligence to support clinical decision-making and research workflows. His recent work explores how large language models can be used to identify radiation-induced pneumonitis from radiology reports and assign CTCAE grades, with the goal of improving efficiency, consistency, and accuracy in radiation oncology toxicity assessment.
