Kara is in the final year of her residency in Radiation Oncology at the University of Toronto in Canada, studying at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and the Odette Cancer Centre (Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre).
Kara completed her undergraduate degree through the Bachelor of Medical Sciences program at Western University in London Ontario, with an Honours Specialization in Physiology. She then continued her training at Western University in the combined MD/PhD program; her PhD was in Pathology & Laboratory Medicine. Kara’s PhD research focused on understanding molecular mechanisms of drug resistance to targeted therapies used to treat head and neck cancers. During her residency, Kara has maintained an active interest in clinical and translational research, studying the intersection between systemic therapies and radiotherapy for breast, lung, prostate and thyroid cancers. She is looking forward to a career as an academic radiation oncologist.
