Kasey R. Cargill, MD, PhD is a PGY-2 Radiation Oncology resident at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. She received her B.S. in Forensic Science from the University of New Haven in 2015, followed by a Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics & Developmental Biology from the University of Pittsburgh in 2019 and an M.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 2025. She completed her preliminary year in Internal Medicine at UTHealth Houston before beginning her advanced residency training.
Dr. Cargill also completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Thoracic, Head & Neck Medical Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center, with a research focus on lung cancer metabolism. Her research has been supported by the National Institutes of Health (F31), the International Lung Cancer Foundation, the UT SPORE in Lung Cancer, the UPMC Hillman Foundation, and the Research Advisory Committee of UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. She has presented her work at national and international scientific meetings, including AAFS, AACR, and ESMO, and has co-authored 18 peer-reviewed publications. Her current research interests include cancer metabolism, metabolomics, and the role of metabolic dysregulation in tumor progression and metastasis.
