Kgosi Hughes is a second-year medical student at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine with a research focus in gynecologic radiation oncology and cancer care delivery in resource-limited settings. He received his B.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Wake Forest University, where he graduated with Dean's List distinction and Magna Cum Laude. His research has been conducted primarily through the Botswana-UPenn Women's Health Clinic in Gaborone, Botswana, where he has spent three consecutive summers as a clinical research collaborator, contributing to six peer-reviewed publications on cervical cancer outcomes, multidisciplinary oncology care, and treatment access in sub-Saharan Africa. He is currently leading two first-author manuscripts, including a prospective observational study of hypofractionated palliative radiotherapy using a 10 Gy × 3 fractionation scheme for advanced cervical cancer in sub-Saharan Africa, the subject of his ASTRO 2026 poster presentation. He also conducts research at the Stephenson Cancer Center at the University of Oklahoma, where he contributes to the analysis of stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) for metastatic spine disease. He serves as Treasurer of the Radiation Oncology Interest Group at his institution and has a clinical interest in palliative care and optimizing treatment access for underserved populations.
