Lisa Sudmeier is a physician-scientist and Assistant Professor of Radiation Oncology at Emory University. She specializes in the treatment of brain metastases and primary brain tumors. She earned a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Wisconsin where she also received her MD. During residency at Emory University, she completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Immunology as part of the ABR Holman Research Pathway. She is actively involved in both basic and clinical research. She leads a neuro immuno-oncology research laboratory that focuses on understanding interactions between the immune system, nervous system, and tumor. She studies how the brain and tumors growing in the brain are affected by radiation therapy and immune checkpoint blockade. Her work aims to develop more effective therapeutic strategies that promote anti-tumor immune responses in the brain, with an emphasis on brain metastases.
