Manuel Julián Arévalo Casas, M.Sc., is a Medical Physicist at Clínica Los Nogales in Bogotá, Colombia, with professional experience in radiotherapy, nuclear medicine, and radiation protection. He earned his M.Sc. in Medical Physics from Universidad Nacional de Colombia, completing his residency at Fundación Santa Fe de Bogotá, where his thesis on risk analysis with complex networks received the Laureate Distinction from the university. His career includes serving as Radiation Protection Officer at Clínica Colsanitas, practicing external beam radiotherapy and brachytherapy at Clínica del Occidente, and gaining clinical experience with Tomotherapy at Fundación Santa Fe. At Fundación Clínica Shaio, he trained in Gamma Knife radiosurgery and contributed to the service’s successful accreditation by the International Stereotactic Radiosurgery Society (ISRS). His work centers on patient safety, quality assurance, and the design of cost-effective strategies to strengthen radiotherapy practices, supported by expertise in data management and analysis to evaluate and improve service performance. Building on his thesis, he continues to develop network-based approaches that capture the complexity of radiotherapy and provide practical tools to enhance both safety and efficiency in oncology care.
