Dr. Lacouture serves as Chief of the Division of Dermatology in the Department of Medicine and Medical Director of the Symptom Management Program at Perlmutter Cancer Center—Long Island. He holds the distinction of being President and Founder of the Oncodermatology Society, a field he pioneered through groundbreaking research on dermatologic adverse events related to cancer therapies.
Dr. Lacouture earned his medical degree from Javeriana University in Bogota, Colombia, and completed his dermatology residency at the University of Chicago following an internship in Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic and a post-doctoral fellowship in immunology at Harvard Medical School's Brigham and Women's Hospital. His clinical and research expertise focuses on developing interventions to prevent and treat cancer therapy-related toxicities.
Prior to joining NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine in 2023, Dr. Lacouture built and led the premier Oncodermatology Program globally at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. His work has resulted in publications in high-impact journals including Nature Reviews Cancer, Journal of Clinical Oncology, and Clinical Cancer Research. He has contributed to National Comprehensive Cancer Network and MASCC guidelines and received recognition as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor. Dr. Lacouture's current research emphasizes integrated virtual care models and symptom management optimization in oncology.
