Maxine Washington, MBA, RT

Maxine Washington, Director of Radiation Therapy at Emory Winship Cancer Institute. In my role as Director of Radiation Therapy, I have responsibility for the radiation therapy teams for each Winship radiation oncology practice. During my career, quality, safety, and training have been the primary focus. Focusing on quality directed me down the path of creating an in-house quality reporting database, collaboration with vendors to develop patient positioning devices; studying and applying Six sigma and Lean concepts for process improvement and workflow standardization.

I have been fortunate to share my work during SROA annual meetings in 2011 and 2020. I was also a member of the SROA Best Practice committee. Quality is my true north; providing the care patients except to receive, when they entrust us to address their healthcare needs.

In my professional career, I held positions in management, quality, and education in the department of Radiation Oncology, at the University of Chicago Medicine, University of Illinois Hospital, and Michael Reese Hospital.
