Mei Liu, M.Med.

Mei Liu is a researcher in radiation oncology, currently affiliated with Shandong Cancer Hospital and Institute, where she completed her Master of Medicine in Oncology from Shandong University. Her master’s research has focused on the emerging role of post-translational modifications, particularly lactylation, in tumor radioimmunology. She investigates how histone and non-histone lactylation reshape the tumor immune microenvironment and modulate the response to radiotherapy. Her work aims to elucidate the molecular mechanisms by which lactate-driven modifications influence immune cell function and tumor radioresistance, with the goal of identifying novel therapeutic targets that combine radiation with immunotherapy. Ms. Liu is particularly interested in translating these epigenetic and metabolic insights into clinically relevant strategies to improve treatment outcomes. She is an active member of ASTRO and is committed to advancing the understanding of radioimmunology through translational research.
