Dr. Michael J. Price is Vice Chairman and Chief of Physics and Director of Enterprise Technical Strategy and Innovation in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center/NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, where he also serves as Associate Professor of Radiation Oncology. A board-certified therapeutic medical physicist and Fellow of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM), he is recognized for his leadership in clinical medical physics, adaptive radiation therapy, quality improvement, and operational innovation.


Dr. Price earned his B.S. in Physics from Temple University and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Medical Physics from The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and the University of Texas Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. Before joining Columbia in 2021, he held faculty and leadership positions at Vanderbilt University, Brown University, the University of North Carolina, and Louisiana State University/Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center. He was named an AAPM Fellow in 2025 and has received multiple national teaching and research honors, including the Association of Residents in Radiation Oncology Educator of the Year Award.


His research focuses on adaptive radiation therapy, brachytherapy, treatment planning, AI-enabled clinical workflows, and quality assurance. Dr. Price serves or has served in national leadership roles with AAPM, ASTRO, and the American Board of Radiology, advancing innovations that improve the safety, quality, and efficiency of radiation oncology.
