Nicholas Gallardo is a 4th year medical student at Wake Forest University School of Medicine who aspires to be a future Radiation Oncologist. He is originally from Hattiesburg, Mississippi, where he attended high school. He graduated from Wake Forest University as a Chemistry major. He has served as both the volunteer chair from 2022-2023 and social chair from 2024-2026 for his medical school class at Wake Forest University. Early in medical school, his research endeavors included projects in the departments of Otolaryngology and Dermatology focused on gastrostomy tube placement following head and neck surgery and a review of weight loss programs for patients with obesity, respectively. His recent research in Radiation Oncology has focused on optimizing the selection of reactive versus prophylactic gastrostomy tubes for patients with head and neck cancer treated with RT, as well as assessing the dosimetric coverage of IMRT target volumes with conventional 3D-conformal RT for early glottic larynx carcinoma. He has additionally been part of a case report focused on subclavian venous occlusion as a delayed complication of radiation for NSCLC.
