Dr. Nirav Kapadia is a staff physician, the Director of Radiation Oncology services at Dartmouth Cancer Center-North, and the Radiation Oncology system Director for Quality, Patient Safety and Experience. In addition to clinical work, his research and administrative interests are focused on value creation in health care delivery, by focusing on intersection between quality improvement and health services research and policy.


Before joining Dartmouth, Dr. Kapadia was chief resident of radiation oncology at the University of Michigan where he developed interests in health care administration and health service research. His Master’s degree in Healthcare Leadership from The Dartmouth Institute, focused upon integrating health services research methods, statistical and financial analysis, provider communication, quality improvement approaches and management skills to improve the value of health care delivery. His primary research interests at Dartmouth include variation and value based cancer care, and he serves as consultant with collaborators nationally to study financial toxicity, the effects of bundled payments on cancer care, and use of Medicare claims data to understand variation in treatment cost, quality and outcomes. Previously, as Medical Director of the Levy Incubator at Dartmouth, Dr. Kapadia sourced, selected and managed small, multidisciplinary teams to help them deliver and sustain better health care, while reducing costs associated with such complex care.


He completed his undergraduate studies at Dartmouth College and medical school at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
