Dr. Higashi is a chef director of High Precision Radiation Therapy Center of Sagara Hospital Miyazaki, and that of Radiation Therapy Center of Sagara Perth Street Clinic(Kagoshima-City, Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan). And, he serves as an executive of the Palliative Radiation Therapy Committee and the Health Insurance Committee of the Japanese Society of Radiation Oncology. He is board-certified in radiation oncology and palliative medicine. He specializes in radiation therapy, particularly in breast cancer, urinary tract cancer, radical and palliative radiation therapy for metastatic cancer lesion, lung cancer, pancreas cancer, brain tumors, and head and neck cancers. Previously, he worked as the chief director of the radiation therapy department at Kagoshima University's Department of Radiology. In 2016, at the annual meeting of the Japan Radiological Society held in Yokohama, Japan, he presented research results on prognostic prediction of chemoradiotherapy for pancreatic cancer using semi-quantitative CT data, and received the Silver Medal Award.
