Sai Kumar Samala, MD, is a radiation oncologist and Advanced Precision Radiotherapy Research Fellow in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where his research focused on MR-guided and adaptive radiotherapy. He earned his MD in Radiation Oncology and completed a senior residency at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and the National Cancer Institute, New Delhi, where he trained in advanced radiotherapy and developed clinical expertise in neuro-oncology and gastrointestinal cancers. Before UCLA, he was a translational research fellow in Dr. Sunil Krishnan's Nanotechnology and Translational Radiation Oncology Laboratory at UTHealth Houston.

His research examines radiosensitization and immune modulation in pancreatic and brain tumors, with a focus on DDR1-targeted tumor and stroma biology, immune exclusion, and nanotechnology-based therapeutics. Combining in vitro, in vivo, and computational methods, he studies mechanisms of radioresistance and ways to strengthen the synergy between radiation and immunotherapy. His work has been presented at ASTRO and AACR and published in journals including Nanomaterials and the Journal for ImmunoTherapy of Cancer.
