Serageldin Kamel, MD, is a resident physician in radiation oncology at University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center and Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. His research focuses on quantitative imaging and clinical informatics in radiation oncology.
Dr. Kamel received his medical degree from Alexandria University in Alexandria, Egypt, and completed a postdoctoral research fellowship in the Department of Radiation Oncology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. His research there centered on quantitative image analysis and radiomics, developing CT-based methods to characterize radiation-associated normal tissue injury and to replace subjective toxicity grading with reproducible, automated imaging endpoints.
He has authored more than 50 peer-reviewed publications. His current work spans adaptive RT informatics, clinical trial design, oncologic data infrastructure, and the use of EMR-derived data to study treatment-related late effects and access to guideline-concordant care. He is also a former professional biomedical illustrator and retains an active interest in scientific visualization, design of clinical data interfaces, and clinical decision support systems.
