session DESCRIPTION

The original recommendations from AAPM on managing breathing motion were published in 2006, before the advent of 4DCT and image guidance. AAPM Task Group 324 was formed to update the recommendations to the modern era. This dynamic and interactive educational session will present attendees with these recommendations and offer a chance to interact with the authors of TG324 to better understand the new guidance. Clinical practice varies greatly from clinic to clinic and this information will be critical to high quality treatment planning and delivery of lung and upper abdominal cancers.

learning objectives

  1. Better design breathing motion mitigation strategies for their clinics.
  2. Understand pitfalls and challenges of planning and delivering thoracic and upper abdominal radiation therapy.
