05:15pm - 06:15pm PT

MODERATOR(S)

Erqi Pollom, MD, MS - Stanford Cancer Institute Palo Alto

session DESCRIPTION

This session will feature presentations from a panel of specialists who will share their insights on the unique pelvic health issues faced by cancer survivors following radiation treatment. As treatment strategies increasingly focus on de-escalation due to concerns about side effects and with younger patients increasingly being diagnosed with cancers, such as colorectal cancer, it is crucial to address the long-term effects of radiation therapy. Attendees will gain a comprehensive understanding of the anatomical changes that can occur post-radiation and explore effective management strategies for common issues related to bowel, bladder, and sexual health. The critical role of pelvic health rehabilitation will be highlighted, discussing various techniques and therapies that can help restore function and enhance the quality of life for patients. This collaborative exchange of knowledge will empower health care professionals to better support their patients recovery and promote comprehensive pelvic health amidst the evolving landscape of treatment strategies.
