In this educational session, we will briefly review the literature regarding harassment and bullying in radiation oncology and the negative impacts on the workforce. A panel comprised of radiation oncologists and physicists including academic and community practice with leadership positions and administrative roles will interact to share their best practices to prevent workplace harassment. We will discuss topics such as public humiliation in medical training, harassment among faculty and residents in RO and their negative impact, and fairness in salary and promotion. Beyond this, we will also discuss practical strategies for changing the culture within departments to reduce incidents of harassment before they rise to the level of a serious reportable event. Participants will leave with actionable steps they can utilize regardless of their position within their workplace. This session will discuss strategies to mitigate harassment and bullying and provide attendees with actionable tools they can implement in their workplace.
