Sharareh “Sherri” Gholamin, MD, PhD, is a physician-scientist and radiation oncology resident at City of Hope, with a research focus on solid tumor immunotherapy. She received her medical degree from Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences in Tehran. She then pursued postdoctoral research at Stanford University, where her work focused on myeloid checkpoint biology and anti-CD47–based immunotherapy approaches in pediatric and adult brain tumors. She later completed her PhD in cancer immunotherapy at the California Institute of Technology/City of Hope. Dr. Gholamin was selected as a Parker Scholar in Cancer Immunotherapy in 2020 and was the recipient of the 2024 Basic Science Award at the Society of Neuro-Oncology Annual Meeting. Her research focuses on mechanisms of resistance to immune-based therapies in solid tumors, particularly glioblastoma and other immunologically resistant cancers. She uses high-throughput and multidimensional approaches to better understand tumor biology, the tumor microenvironment, and the complex interactions between immune and non-immune cellular programs that shape therapeutic response. Her long-term goal is to define how these interconnected programs influence resistance and to develop rational combination strategies that improve the efficacy of radiation, CAR T cells, and other immunotherapies for patients with solid tumors.
