Tatiana Bejarano is a board-certified medical physicist at Baptist Health Wertheim Cancer Institute. She earned her Ph.D. in biomedical engineering (medical physics) from the University of Miami and completed her residency at the University of Virginia.
Dr. Bejarano has played a pivotal role in expanding WCI’s technological footprint, notably co-leading the commissioning of the Accuray TomoTherapy system at the Doral satellite clinic in south Florida. Her clinical expertise extends to a diverse fleet of advanced modalities, including Accuray’s Radixact, Gamma Knife (Esprit) and ViewRay’s MR Linac. Beyond machine maintenance, she has been instrumental in modernizing clinical workflows, including the building and testing of Radformation’s RadMachine for cloud-based machine quality assurance across the photon therapy department.
In her research, Dr. Bejarano focuses on the intersection of artificial intelligence and clinical decision-making. She is a frequent contributor to the field, with publications in the Journal of Neuro-Oncology and the Red Journal, including work specifically focused on the development of educational workshops for respiratory motion management and creating AI workflows to aid in clinical decisions. She has developed sophisticated machine learning frameworks that integrate electronic medical record data with quantitative imaging to optimize care-path selection for patients with HPV-associated head and neck cancer. Recently, her work has expanded to include machine learning-based models for predicting local failure risk following stereotactic radiosurgery for brain metastases.
