Tony Young, PhD, is a Senior Radiation Oncology Medical Physics Specialist at Liverpool and Macarthur Cancer Therapy Centre in Sydney, Australia. He is an ACPSEM certified Radiation Oncology Medical Physics Specialist and a certified Magnetic Resonance Safety Expert with nearly 20 years of experience in radiation oncology medical physics.
Dr Young completed his PhD at the University of Sydney in 2023, with research focused on advancing MRI-only treatment planning in radiotherapy. His work addressed the technical and clinical challenges of MRI-only workflows, including synthetic CT generation, dosimetric validation, imaging efficiency, and implementation in routine clinical practice.
His clinical and research interests include MRI-only radiotherapy, treatment planning, dosimetry, brachytherapy, quality assurance, radiation safety, and MR safety. He has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and contributed to the translation of MRI-based radiotherapy workflows into routine radiation oncology practice through clinical innovation, research, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
