Veronia Fahmy, DO is a third-year radiation oncology resident at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois. Originally from Egypt, she moved to the United States at age 14 and grew up in East Brunswick, New Jersey. She attended Rutgers University–New Brunswick’s Honors Program, where she studied Cell Biology and Neuroscience and completed an honors thesis investigating the role of BRCA1 in the G2/M cell-cycle checkpoint following DNA damage. She subsequently attended NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her transitional year at Hackensack Meridian Health Ocean Medical Center. Her professional interests include medical education, narrative medicine, advocacy, and organized medicine, with a particular focus on developing equitable training opportunities for radiation oncology trainees at institutions without a dedicated radiation oncology residency program. Her other research has focused on breast cancer, genitourinary malignancies, radiation-related toxicity, and lymphoma. Outside of medicine, she enjoys singing, songwriting, playing various musical instruments, working out, and watching Turkish dramas.
