Dr. Vibha Chaswal is an ABR-certified clinical medical physicist with over 15 years of experience in radiation oncology, with expertise spanning advanced treatment techniques, commissioning, quality assurance, and patient safety. She currently serves as Senior Medical Physicist at Miami Cancer Institute (MCI), Baptist Health South Florida, where she also chairs the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Committee. In this role, she drives initiatives focused on workflow efficiency, clinical standardization, and radiation safety, guided by an FMEA framework to resolve departmental ROILS submissions, developed by her.
A strong advocate for proactive error management, Dr. Chaswal is a member of the national Work Group on Prevention of Errors in Radiation Oncology. She is a recognized leader in promoting a “Good Catches” culture; She's conducted/partnered in sessions on the topic at AAPM, ICMP and ABS conferences—and integrates these principles into her clinical practice to enhance patient safety and team learning.
Dr. Chaswal completed her Ph.D. and M.S. in Medical Physics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a CAMPEP-accredited residency at the University of Iowa. She is a recipient of the prestigious Judith Stitt Best Paper Award in Brachytherapy for her pioneering work in directional brachytherapy and holds a U.S. patent for a novel treatment planning technique. With multiple peer-reviewed publications and ongoing national leadership, Dr. Chaswal continues to elevate standards in clinical physics and patient-centered care.
