Dr. Vibha Chaswal is an experienced ABR-certified clinical medical physicist, with expertise spanning advanced treatment techniques, commissioning, quality assurance, and patient safety. She currently serves as Senior Medical Physicist at Wertheim Cancer Institute (WCI, previously MCI), Baptist Health South Florida, where she serves as Education Director for Medical Physics residency program and chairs the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Committee. In CQI role, she drives initiatives focused on workflow efficiency, clinical standardization, and patient safety. For this, she developed the Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)-based framework for evaluating department’s Radiation Oncology Incident Learning System (RO-ILS®) submissions, fostering continuous quality improvement and organizational learning. Dr. Chaswal is a member of the AAPM’s national Work Group on Prevention of Errors in Radiation Oncology. She's conducted/partnered in sessions on Good-Catches at AAPM, ICMP, AMPI and ABS conferences. She also leads a multi-institutional project on GammaTile® workflow variability for intracranial brachytherapy standardization.
Dr. Chaswal completed her Ph.D. and M.S. in Medical Physics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a CAMPEP-accredited residency at the University of Iowa. She is a recipient of the prestigious Judith Stitt Best Paper Award in Brachytherapy for her pioneering work in directional brachytherapy and holds a U.S. patent for a novel treatment planning technique. With multiple peer-reviewed publications and ongoing national leadership, Dr. Chaswal continues to elevate standards in clinical physics and patient-centered care.
