Dr. Xu received his Ph.D. in physics from University of Science and Technology of China, Hefei, China. During his Ph.D. study, he focused on the quantum control of single spins based on nitrogen-vacancy center in diamond using in-house optically detected magnetic resonance platform. In 2017, he joined Johns Hopkins University as postdoctoral fellow and received professional training in small animal optical imaging and radiation therapy. He devised a comprehensive approach to systematically tackle the challenging of bioluminescence tomography (BLT) for conformal irradiation guidance using orthotopic glioblastoma model. In 2020, he joined the department of Radiation Oncology at University of Texas Southwestern medical center. He is now developing a systematic method to characterize the performance of a commercial BLT system, MuriGlo. The success of this work is expected to provide a guideline to maintain the quality of BLT performance and facilitate study reproducibility among institutes. Besides, he is also be involved in validation of BLT-guided radiation therapy and improvement of quantitative BLT algorithm.
