David Azria, MD, PhD, is a French radiation oncologist and professor at the University of Montpellier, recognized for his leadership in cancer research and treatment. He currently serves as Director of the SIRIC Montpellier Cancer center and Head of the Radiation Oncology Department at the Montpellier Cancer Institute. He is also co-head of the INSERM U1194 radiobiology research team and coordinator of a regional academic federation in radiation oncology. Trained in medicine, radiobiology, and oncology, he obtained his PhD in 2004 and became a full professor in 2009. His research focuses on radiobiology, personalized radiation therapy, and radiogenomics, contributing to more than 400 scientific publications.
Professor Azria has held numerous national and international leadership roles, including President of the French Society of Radiation Oncology and scientific director of the Montpellier Cancer Institute. He has been actively involved in major European research initiatives such as the FP7 REQUITE program and international radiogenomics consortia. In addition to his academic work, he co-founded the biotech startup NovaGray, aimed at improving radiotherapy safety and personalization. His contributions have been recognized with multiple national and international awards in oncology research.
