Hiraku Sato, MD, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Radiation Oncology at Yamagata University Hospital and Vice Director of the East Japan Heavy Ion Center in Yamagata, Japan. His clinical and research interests focus on carbon-ion radiotherapy, particularly for prostate cancer and other genitourinary malignancies. He has been actively involved in the clinical development and implementation of carbon-ion radiotherapy for localized and locally advanced prostate cancer, including very high-risk disease. His research interests also include treatment intensification strategies, adaptive carbon-ion radiotherapy, radiomics, and the integration of hyperthermia with particle therapy.
