Olivia Pocha is a current fourth-year medical student at Tulane University School of Medicine. After graduating from Louisiana State University in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, Olivia worked for ChampionX as a chemical sales representative in the oilfields of the Permian Basin of West Texas/Southeast New Mexico. Following two years in the Permian Basin, she returned to New Orleans to pursue a career in medicine, earning an Master's of Science in Biochemistry from Tulane University prior to matriculating at Tulane University School of Medicine. During her gap year before medical school, Olivia worked on prostate cancer clinical trials under Dr. Oliver Sartor, MD, focusing on radiopharmaceuticals, particularly Lutetium-177. Since starting medical school, she has served in medical school government, participated in Peer Assisted Learning, tutoring and mentoring students in the classes beneath her, and was recently inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society after ranking in the top 5% of her class by GPA. Over the past year, her research has focused on the design, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of phase III oncology clinical trials. She is applying to radiation oncology for the 2027 Match.
